On the one hand, the WITg offers standard testing methods according to international norms, and on the other hand it can develop individualized testing procedures that have been adjusted specifically to the customer’s requirements. That means if there is no testing method for a specific project, we will develop one. This is exactly where we have enormous potential as a flexible and creative company.

Testing methods
LIGHT AND ELECTRON-OPTICAL CHARACTERISATION

  • SEM (including low vacuum modus)
  • light microscopy
  • stereo macroscopy

MECHANICAL MATERIALS TESTING

  • Durability test [Vickers (DIN EN ISO 6507-1, macro, low-load and micro range), Brinell (DIN EN ISO 6506-1), Rockwell (DIN EN ISO 6508-1)]
  • Tensile test on metallic materials (DIN EN ISO 6892-1), plastics (DIN EN ISO 527-1) and elastomers (DIN 53504)
  • Additionally: pressure test and bending test up to 250kN, pendulum impact tester up to 450J

CORROSION TEST

  • Salt spray test (DIN EN ISO 9227)
  • Test in condensation – alternating climate (Kesternich-Test) (DIN EN ISO 6988)
  • Test of resistance against condensate corrosion in exhaust gas-carrying components (VDA 230-214)
  • Climate chamber (temperature can be regulated from -40°C to +180°C, relative humidity can be regulated between 5% and 95%)
  • Electrochemistry, e.g. ISO-17475, ISO-12732 etc.

MATERIALS ANALYSIS

  • Spectral analysis of materials based on iron, aluminium, copper, and zinc
  • EDX analysis system (detector unit of scanning electron microscope) for semi-quantitative analysis of elements
